The Superior High School Marching Band participated in the Harvest Harmony Parade and Field Show Competition on Saturday, October 5th. The band received a “Division 2- Excellent” on their field show and are proud of the performance they gave. Come out Friday afternoon to help the band cheer on the Wildcat Football team and watch their halftime performance “Hits of Rock and Roll”.

⭐️It's time for our Friday Staff Spotlight⭐️ Please help us give a warm welcome to Nathan Breland, our new Art teacher. My name is Nathan Breland, and I am beyond thrilled to announce that I’m the new art teacher at Superior High School! Before coming back home, I had the joy of teaching elementary art in Hattiesburg, MS, for two years and middle school art in Gulfport, MS, for a year. Now, I’m back to where it all started, teaching in Superior, and I couldn’t be more excited! I live with my amazing girlfriend Amberlynne, and we just welcomed our baby boy into the world! He’s brought so much joy and creativity into our lives already. In my spare time, you’ll likely find me on the disc golf course, creating my own artwork, or diving into a competitive trading card game I’ve recently gotten hooked on, It’s been such a fun challenge! What I’m most excited about teaching in Superior is that, as an alum, it means the world to me to be continuing the tradition of incredible art teachers that inspired me growing up. And to make it even better, I get to teach in the same classroom where so many of my favorite high school memories were made! It feels like I’ve come full circle, and I can’t wait to help my students create their own lasting memories and creative experiences here. 🌾🚜 Harvest Day Recap! 🌽✨ On October 2nd, The Superior FFA successfully harvested their test plot! A huge thank you to Tall Pine Ag—Trent Siebecker and Steve Siebecker, and to Lance Schroeder and Matt Sherbeck from Landmark Implement for all your assistance and donated time. Special thanks to Matt Sullivan for lending us his truck and trailer, and to Eric Krotzinger at Agrex for providing storage for our grain. 🙌🚚A big shout out to Luke Meyer for bringing his truck along! 🚛 Our Ag Mechanics team explored the inner workings of combine parts and harvest safety 🔧⚙️, while the Precision Agriculture group learned about row sense technology and real-time data tracking 📊📈. Meanwhile, our Agronomy team focused on understanding harvest loss and moisture's impact on our crops 🌱💧. We’re grateful for all the support that made this day a success. ⭐️It's time for our Friday Staff Spotlight⭐️ Please help us give a warm welcome to Cesar Torres, our new school psychologist and guidance counselor. I graduated from Creighton University with a Major in Psychology and Minor in Biology. I got my masters in educational psychology from The University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) and my Ed.S - school psychology degree from UNL as well. This is my second year as a fully licensed school psychologist. I am married, have two cats and one dog, and have two sisters (I am the middle child). My family lives in Iowa and I love spending time with them. I enjoy running, cooking, and anything related to art. I speak two languages and am so excited to support bilingual students. I am excited to be part of a community that feels like home. I am most excited to see students progress from all the cool programs and services we are providing. 🎨 This week, our art students explored the element of Space in their artwork. We began by studying the renowned landscape watercolor artist, Thomas Moran, whose use of depth and perspective served as great inspiration. The students then applied these concepts by creating their own watercolor landscapes, focusing on how to effectively incorporate space using foreground, middle ground, and background to create a sense of depth in their compositions. It’s been exciting to see the creativity flow as they grasp these important concepts and translate them into their own unique visions. Next time you're walking through the cafeteria, feel free to stop by and take a look at the student artwork on display! Their creativity and hard work are truly worth seeing. 🎨

Personal Finance students are finishing up their checking account unit, so it was the perfect time for a local banker to come and share their banking knowledge. Thank you to Alicia from Home Federal Bank for taking time to help further their knowledge of the banking system.

FBLA is hosting their annual Blood Drive on Friday, October 4th from 8:00-2:30. The drive will be in hosted in the elementary gym and you will be able to enter in through the north gym doors. To schedule an appointment contact Mrs. Fuller at sfuller@superiorwildcats.org or 402-879-3257 ext. 120.

Doane University hosted the "Froshmore" Vocal Festival this week featuring 9th and 10th grade singers from over 15 schools across the state. Students performed 4 songs, including one the Doane Choir. Holley Kintigh, Jemma Bernal, and Shaylin Bargen represented Superior at the event!

ESU 9 hosted a student transition day for area schools. Students had the opportunity to participate in several interactive activities. It was a purposeful day filled with fun and learning.
