Second graders celebrated "flapjacks and flannels" this past Friday to wrap up our Tall Tales & Fairy Tales unit!

During Lit Lab Kindergarten students have been learning the parts of their iPads.

Mrs. Roach and Ms. Pahl's 5th grade students also visited the Vestey center and practiced our states and capitals with Bingo. We got to play with some of our local senior community members and learn a little about them!! It was so much fun!! One of the ladies is 99 years old!!

Mrs. Henry here! Ask your kids about art today! We had such a fun day! So much fun I didn't take many pictures, but I enjoyed seeing all the smiling faces and we can't wait until next week. We followed all the rules and had so much fun creating masterpieces!

We love Art! Mrs. Henry inspires students to be creative and have fun! The 5th graders enjoyed creating paper sculptures, about themselves.

Please help us give a warm welcome to Jett Setenson, our elementary speech language pathologist.
My name is Jett Stenson and I am the new speech-language pathologist for grades 1st through 5th. Prior to coming to Superior Public Schools, I worked at Madonna Rehabilitation
Hospital for 6 years. There, I worked with a variety of ages and diagnoses. My husband, Tanner, works remotely for a golf course management company. We have two children - Palmer who just turned 3 and Lottie who is 4 months old. I enjoy spending time with family, being outdoors, listening to podcasts, watching Nebraska volleyball, and reading. I am excited to be back in Superior and serve the school that once served me as a student!
Welcome to #NebraskaWildcatNation Jett! We are glad to have you as part of our team! β€οΈπ€

π¨ποΈ This week, our students explored the concept of Value in art! They put their creativity to work, combining Color Theory and Value to create stunning Optical Illusion artworks. Their pieces showcase how light, shadow, and color can create depth and trick the eye. πβ¨ Check out their incredible work. ππ

A field trip to Kara's apple orchard was the perfect way to start the month of September. PALLS preschoolers had a great time picking, sorting, smashing, and tasting the delicious apples.

The 3rd Grade took advantage of the heat last week and did an experiment. last year we found out what temperature crayons melted. This year they learned what crayon colors absorb the most heat, and melt the quickest (dark colors) π and which ones don't absorb as much and melt very little (white)! The humidity was brutal and the temperature was HOTπ₯ but we LEARNED A LOT!

Reminder: Tomorrow (Thursday) is the last day to donate food to the Food Drive Competition. All food needs to be in designated box by 3:38 p.m.

Thank you to Brodstone Healthcare for providing HIPPA training to the Internship class.

PALLS Preschoolers had such a great day picking apples at the Smith Orchard. They picked as many as they could carry, sorted them by good and bad, helped squish them for cider, and then ate one for snack! π

Our dedicated Superior FFA members demonstrated remarkable commitment by participating in the state Milk Quality and Products contest in Grand Island on Labor Day, Saturday. π₯ The team diligently utilized their Friday off to engage in a mock contest, ensuring thorough preparation for their various performances on Friday evening. π For those unfamiliar, this contest, made famous by Napoleon Diamante, challenges members to identify diverse milk and cheese varieties, detect defects in milk flavor, and complete a written examination on the safe handling and storage of milk products. π§ Their hard work and dedication paid off, as Superior FFA secured an impressive 6th place as a team. π₯ Additionally, our outstanding member, Faith Butler, achieved an exceptional 12th place individually. ποΈ We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the entire team for their remarkable accomplishment! π

Nuckolls County Knights come up with a 38-0 victory over Blue Hill in their middle school debute! Go cats! ππ

Please help us give a warm welcome to Megan Pahl, our new fifth grade teacher.
π 5th Grade
~ 5 years as Center Director and Director of Education at Sylvan Learning Center in Kearney, 10 years at Kenwood Elementary School in Kearney
~ 2 boys: Huxtyn - 5, Kindergarten and Parker - 12, 6th grade
~ My parents, sisters, grandma, and aunts & uncles both live close to Superior, or even Superior
~ We enjoy going to the lake, swimming, and spending time together with extended family. I enjoy reading and learning, for both professional and personal enjoyment, as well as working on puzzles. Parker played on a travel hockey team last year, so that was a fun and new learning experience for both of us! My favorite season is fall, and I enjoy watching the Husker volleyball and football teams.
~ I am excited about teaching at Superior for the fact that I am back to that smaller community that I was used to growing up. I am looking forward to the smaller class sizes, and being able to build relationships with my students in a smaller environment. I am excited about the direction that I am seeing and hearing the district go in regards to academics and teacher support and training. The welcome that I have received so far has been wonderful, and I believe that it speaks volumes of the community, as well as the district as a whole! I can not wait to get to know more people in and around Superior, as well as getting my boys involved in things that I remember doing, growing up in a small town!
Welcome to #NebraskaWildcatNation Megan! We are glad to have you as part of our team! β€οΈπ€
