Last Friday, Mrs. Schuster finished her Civil War West trip in Jackson, Mississippi. She toured the Old Capital building.
On Thursday, Mrs. Schuster toured Vicksburg National Park. This park focused on the last Confederate stronghold on the Mississippi River during the Civil War. ποΈ A highlight of the tour was seeing the Cairo, an Union iron gunboat, that sank in the Yazoo River on its way to Vicksburg π₯οΈπ£ and the spot were Union General Grant and Confederate General Pemberton negotiated surrender terms for the Vicksburg port. π³ πͺ¦She also was able to photograph the tombstone of her third great grandfather. Christopher Columbus Pickle. He died in the Nashville campaign in April of 1863 but was reinterred at Vicksburg after the war.πͺ¦

Superior Public Schools will not be hosting the Kids Club after school program for the 2026-2027 school year. We understand this may be an inconvenience for some so we wanted to give everyone a heads up as early as possible.
On Wednesday, Mrs. Schuster visited four Civil War battlefields, including Shiloh, Corinth, Brice's Crossroads, and Tupelo in either Tennessee or Mississippi.
βͺShe was able to see a reproduction of Shiloh Church, which was in the middle of the battle to keep Pittsburg Landing from Confederate hands. It was heavily damaged during the battle but was used as a field hospital. βͺ
πͺ¦She was also able to see the Shiloh National Cemetery, where almost 3,900 soldiers are buried, mostly Union. Many of the Confederate dead are in mass graves on the battlefield. πͺ¦
β«βｑβͺ βΛβ¬ οΎAlong the way to their hotel, they stopped at the birthplace of Elvis Presley in Tupelo, Mississippi, and took pictures.

Superior Ag Education is lucky to have such great partners! Nutrien Ag and Ross Porter continue thier assistance to our program by developing pre emergent applications for our field needs, continuing with post applications based on student led observations, our field continues toward success at harvest. If you have field chemical application needs, Ross Porter and Nutrien Ag are second to none when it comes to knowledge and capability.
π° On Tuesday, Mrs. Schuster spent time at three forts, Fort Defiance, Fort Donelson, and Fort Pillow; Defiance and Donelson were situated along major rivers leading to the Mississippi River. The Union needed to capture the Mississippi River to help win the Civil War. ποΈ
