Kindergarteners celebrated the completion of their first unit in knowledge which was all about nursery rhymes and fables. Students learned a variety of vocabulary words, short poems, and stories along with learning the meaning of a moral and practicing their ability to recall information! Students tried curds and whey (cottage cheese) and colored pictures of the nursery rhymes they learned. They even practiced being slow and steady like a tortoise with an egg and spoon challenge!

Today they took a color personality test to see if they’re planners, feelers, thinkers, or doers. 💡 From there, students joined mixed groups to talk about how different personalities can work together, and then grouped with their same personality type to explore how even similar styles can bring both conflict and harmony.

⭐️It's time for our Friday Staff Spotlight⭐️
My name is Elijah Heusinkvelt, and I am excited to begin my journey at Superior as the Elementary PE teacher, as well as taking on various coaching positions.
This is my first year teaching, and I’m eager to put what I’ve learned into practice. I attended Hastings College, where I also had the chance to student teach in a variety of Hastings Public Schools, gaining valuable experience that I’m ready to bring into my own classroom and the gym.
Outside of teaching, I come from a big family as the oldest of five siblings. I enjoy staying active with hobbies like disc golf, football, and watching sports whenever I get the chance. A fun fact about me is that I also played football at Hastings College, which was a memorable and rewarding part of my life.
I’m truly excited to be teaching here in Superior—not only because I’m passionate about helping students live fun, healthy, and active lives, but also because I love encouraging them to get involved in other activities both in school and in the community. On top of that, as a Superior graduate, coming back home to teach has been a meaningful and special experience for me.
