New Staff Spotlight: Mr. Randy Kort
Superior Public Schools is proud to welcome Randy Kort as the new Superintendent. With deep roots in the area and a lifelong connection to the Superior community, Mr. Kort brings both professional experience and personal passion to his new role.
Mr. Kort has been familiar with Superior since childhood, frequently traveling through the area to visit family south of Hardy. His ties to the community run deepβhis aunt once served as the elementary secretary, and his in-laws both taught and lived in Superior for many years. Today, his mother-in-law still calls Superior home. These connections made the opportunity to join the district especially meaningful.
During the interview process, Mr. Kort had the chance to meet with community members, staff, administrators, and the school board. It was during these conversations that he recognized the pride and positive culture that define Superior Public Schools. At that moment, he knew he would be honored to become part of the Superior Wildcats family.
Raised in Blue Hill, Mr. Kort has dedicated his career to serving rural and small-town Nebraska schools. He values the unique sense of community these areas provide, where schools serve as a central hub and relationships extend beyond the classroom. He believes small communities function like extended familiesβcelebrating successes together and offering support during challenging times.
Mr. Kortβs career in education spans both teaching and administration across all grade levels. He began as a Title I teacher in Osmond and went on to teach senior English, high school math, and fifth-grade reading. His administrative experience includes serving as a Kβ12 principal and activities director in Shickley, PKβ12 leadership roles in Allen, and as a 3rdβ6th grade principal in Fairbury. Most recently, he served as Superintendent and Activities Director at Meridian Public Schools for the past 12 years.
A graduate of the University of Nebraska at Kearney, Mr. Kort grew up on a farm and understands the values of hard work and community. He is married to JeNae (Watters) Kort, a Superior native and longtime educator, who will complete her final year of teaching at Dorchester during the 2026β27 school year. JeNae previously taught in Superior during the 2017β2018 school year. Together, they have two daughters: Andrea, a project manager in Omaha, and Allyson, a secondary math teacher at Diller-Odell.
Outside of school, Mr. Kort enjoys golfing, spending time at the lake, boating, attending car races, and visiting with family and friends.
As he begins his role in Superior, Mr. Kort is eager to connect with students, staff, and community members. He looks forward to attending school events, from track meets to music contests, and engaging with students of all ages. Whether learning about studentsβ goals and interests or simply enjoying the energy and imagination of younger learners, he is excited to build relationships and support student success.
Please join us in welcoming Mr. Kort to Superior Public Schools!
